Students Grievances Redressal Committee(s) (SGRC)

As per UGC regulations, a Grievance Redressal Committee has been constituted for redressal of grievances of students and staff.

Students’ Grievance Cell at SVU Level

SVU strives to improve service rules and standards to meet student expectations. Officers and employees maintain the highest standards of integrity and transparency. The Grievance Cell examines complaints, judges merit, and addresses harassment concerns. Grievances can be submitted in person, via suggestion boxes, or online.

Objectives

  • Uphold dignity of the College: Ensure a strife-free atmosphere and promote cordial student-student and student-teacher relationships.
  • Encourage students to express grievances freely: Without fear of victimization.
  • Suggestion/complaint Box: Students can anonymously submit grievances or suggestions.
  • Respect and patience: Advising students to respect one another and show restraint in conflicts.
  • Refrain from inciting conflicts: Students should not incite disputes against peers, teachers, or administration.
  • Staff conduct: Staff should treat students fairly without vindictive behavior.
  • Ragging prohibition: Ragging is strictly prohibited; violations should be reported immediately.

Scope

  • Academic Matters: Duplicate mark-sheets, transfer/conduct certificates, examinations.
  • Financial Matters: Library, hostel, and other payments or dues.
  • Other Matters: Sanitation, food, transport, teacher misconduct, harassment.

Functions

  • Attend cases promptly on receipt of written grievances.
  • Review all cases formally and act per Management policy.
  • Report to authorities on attended and pending cases requiring guidance.

Procedure for Lodging Complaint

  • Submit grievances in writing or via the admin department format.
  • Grievance Cell acts on forwarded cases with necessary documents.
  • Ensure grievance resolution within stipulated timeframe.
  • Online registration of grievances is also available.

Periodicity and Attendance at Meetings

  • The Grievance Committee meets as required, or more frequently if requested by the Chairman.
  • At least three members must attend each meeting.
  • Members connected to a grievance should abstain from deliberations regarding that case.
